There’s about 22 million Americans seeing chiropractors annually. 35% of them are seeking chiropractic care for back pain relating to auto accidents, sports injuries or just plain age. One of the main reasons is to avoid the use of painkillers and or surgery.
For Back Pain, Chiropractic Is a Drug-Free Alternative
Chiropractors are trained specialists in misalignments of the spine. The theory is that if the spine is in proper alignment the body has a better chance to heal itself. This method of care serves as a drug-free alternative of pain relief for muscles, joints, bones and connective tissue. And due to the national opiod crisis, many people seeking back pain relief come to a chiropractor specifically to avoid prescription medications.
This is not to say that sometimes chiropractic care is used in conjuction with other alternative methods as well as conventional medical care. It really depends upon the individual case to determine the best form of treatment.
Common Reasons People Get Back Pain
Soft tissue injury to the back that requires chiropractic can be caused by multple things such as:
- Sitting in a chair all day
- Picking something up wrong
- Car accident
- Sports accident
How Chiropractic Care on the Back Works
Chiropractors use hands-on spinal adjustments and other alternative methods to address back pain. The spinal manipulation serves a way to restore mobility to joints that have restricted movement and is usually caused by a traumatic event, like an accident, repetitive motion, or age. Many times patients will require multiple adjustments spread out over a schedule in order to achieve the pain-relief results they are looking for. This varies from each person and condition.
Our Chiropractic Process
We get positive results with our chiropractic care through our process that we’ve been using for over 20 years. We require our new patients to get an examination and consult by one of our physicians before we start manual adjustment. The exam can range from a simple assessment, for healthier backs, to a digital x-ray to get a more specific understanding of the condition.
The initial consultation is set aside to discover the root of the issue, and get a rough idea as to the amount of injury we may be dealing with. We are also looking for any “Red Flags”, or potential problems down the road. Our doctors want to understand the level of injury in order to prescribe a treatment plan that will work for each individual patient. There’s really no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to serious rehabilitiation.
Our doctors don’t rush in and begin making spinal adjustments until we have a full understanding of your medical background. In our 20 years of practice, we find that this approach gives our patients not only positive results, but also results that will last.
After our doctor has made his assessment, he will provide you with a plan to meet your pain relief goal. We’ve designed our plans to not only be effective, but affordable as well. Each visit can be less than what you would normally use as your copay from your health insurance.
